Andy Griffith Show whistler dies

Comments

I am showing my age -- I saw the original shows way back on a black and white (mostly snowstorm look) television. Hard to compare that to HDTV. I still remember the little dittie now that you mention it -- amazing what all is stored in the little brain. Glad to hear he is remembered by many ... sad he died.

I love Andy Griffith and for a long time he had about the highest positive Q ratings in the country (percent that know him, and felt favorable about him). I think only Bill Cosby was a little ahead in the Q. His whistler will be missed...

Don't forget that Ron Howard got his start as Opie...

Thank GOD for Nick and reruns.

Great great show. I enjoyed it more as an adult than I did as a child when I thought it was boring.

Probably one of the most famous whistlers. Lost art these days.

I am such a bad whistler, I was always amazed that someone could whistle as well as he did. I heard the announcement that he had passed away, and was also quite surprised to hear about his body of work. Very impressive!

Hey Sue, I remember the original too, and also on black and white tv. That was the most famous whistle ever - very cool.

I pride myself in knowing that I can whistle that tune just as good as that guy!!
I remember watching it on the black and white TV. And I remember how excited we all were when our family got our first Color TV. Great show and as soon as I read your post I started whistling the song.
